meanwhile i did throw myself into some fibre art, craft stuff that i had been dying to try/ pick up again. Starting with my old love of cross stitch, then moving onto cloth doll making which I adore! Got that out of my system, though i still haven't completed the Terinu plushie I originally set out to design. Went into knitting... of all things... dog jumpers! Cause they're quick, being smaller then human sizes, and i have a basic pattern book that gave me lots of scope for playing. And I could sell the things when i finished and thus more income, if only a little. Got that out of my system and discovered crochet...taught myself using youtube videos and created first off, a hyperbolic coral reef which I populated with a small army of felt octopi that I also created during my doll splurge. The i worked on several different crochet square designs, began work on a huge afghan which i now don't like so won't finish, over half way on a second afghan that I do like and will finish. made some knitted guantlets for family and friends somewhere in there too.
Somewhere in july I decided to finally act on one of my dream posessions and purchased an asian ball jointed doll, a super dolphie (over 60 cms tall) boy doll from a company called Dream of Doll. I bought two more msd's (mini super dolphie-> around 40 to 44 cms tall from a much cheaper company all so i could have fun designing and making clothes for them. Weird as I wasn't into dolls as a kid. the last one i bought is gray skinned and purposely picked to embody a ferin character of mine. not Terinu though, not the right face for my fierce little guy. No intention of purchasing anymore, which is just as well as they are fraggin' expensive.
Did nanowrimo last year and crossed the finish line well over the required word count. Still haven't finished the story though as I'm at cross roads with where I want to go with it. Damn thing has got a life of it's own and it was threatening to eclipse Terinu as my main work so i had to call a halt to it so i could get back to the comic.
And there you have it. Now I'm back to the comic. Although I'm taking care this time not to wrap so much time in it that I burn out again. So part of my down time will still go into my craft stuff. Even so I'm working on keeping to two updates a week for the most part. So far so good. one more page to pencil for chapter 23 and then I'm heading into the final chapter for this story arc.
Enjoy.
